Twin Suites Rooftop Lab | Hub for Advancing Buildings

The Twin Suites Rooftop Lab research facility was designed to study the interaction between building energy consumption, indoor air quality and occupant comfort. It comprises mirrored suite with identical HVAC systems. Each suite has a dedicated fan coil unit, heat recovery ventilator, radiant panel, humidifier, air source heat pump and electric resistance baseboard independently controlled by the building automation system to enable control of temperature, relative humidity and air pressure differentials. Each suite also has three removable wall panels to allow for enclosure element testing. The entire facility measures approximately 7m x 8.5m (23’x28’) and is located on the roof of the four-storey Sandford Fleming Building.
